There's few things I love more makeup wise, than a beautiful eyeshadow palette, and this Christmas Too Faced have really pulled out all the stops to produce some really stunning palettes! I've been lucky to receive two gorgeous Too Faced palettes to share with you all this Christmas, and I am besotted. Too Faced is actually a brand I have tried very little from in the past, but their palettes have often ended up on my beauty wish lists and the The Return to Sexy palette (Debenhams, £32.72) in particular is a long lusted after palette for me, that I am determined to pick up soon as after seeing a stunning review from the lovely Sherrie over at Beauty in the Mirror (a must-read blog!) One product I have tried from Too Faced before is the Shadow Insurance eyeshadow primer, which is very comparable to the coveted Urban Decay Primer Potion. Too Faced is the brain-child of Hollywood makeup artists Jerrod Blandino and Jeremy Johnson who were fed up of the cosmetics available and decided to make their own prestige cosmetics collection, offering only high-quality, on-trend products with highly pigmented formulas in vintage-inspired packaging.
Too Faced Joy to the Girls* (ASOS*, £30) - I had to start with Joy to the Girls because lately, it's an everyday essential palette for me. With a beautiful blue, gold and white themed dotted packaging that almost passes for an extravagant book cover, this just looks beautiful sat on my dresser. It contains 15 wonderful shadows that are perfect for the festive season, but shades which will also easily work all year round, too. This palette has blown me away, it's been a must-have for me every single day even if it's just picking one shade from the palette to team with other eyeshadows, it's just simply stunning. The finishes differ in finish from matte to frost and shimmer. The four matte shades include Cookie Dough; a soft brown taupe, Mulberry; a deep grey taupe, Snow Angle; a vibrant bone shade, Powdered Sugar; a subtle nude and Coal; which is exactly the shade of crushed coal. The frost finishes include Cheers!; a beautiful shimmering pink highlight, Prancer; a warm copper, Chestnut; a stunning plum, Twinkle; a stunning gold with undertones of olive and Joy; a pale turquoise. The shimmer finishes include Sugar Plum; the most beautiful violet I have ever come across in shadow form, Too-Too; a light champagne pink, Yule Log; a deep plum with raspberry undertones, Spike the Punch; a beautiful pale pink and Chimney; a grey toned lilac.
Twinkle is by far my favourite shade of the lot, which I never expected as it's very stand out for me, and I also adore Yule Log, but all of the shades are incredibly versatile and easy to work with. The formula for each is lovely and no shades have let me down - I'm super impressed! The shades are also very large for the usual size you'd find in a palette, so this is set to last forever and a day! Not just a palette, this stunning collection of shadows also comes with a full sized LashGLAM mascara! The palette usually retails for £38 but the cheapest I've found it so far is ASOS for just £30, so be sure to grab it there if you decide to pick this beautiful palette up! It's also available on the Boots website at the usual retail price of £38 if you want to earn some Boots points and there's a special offer on at the moment of 1,000 Boots points when you buy three premium brand products!
Too Faced Jingle all the Way iPhone Palette* (ASOS*, £20) - At a third of the size, the Jingle all the Way palette is ideal for makeup adorers and iPhone fans alike. The packaging is actually set into a removable iPhone cover in the theme of the packaging; blue, gold and white, matching the Joy to the Girls palette. But don't worry if you don't have an iPhone - you can simply keep the outer packaging attached! The palette itself is adorable, housing nine metallic and shimmer shadows as well as two larger matte shadows, a bronzer and a blush. It's the perfect compact size for travelling and it's great to have a palette where most of your main products are all included in one, nifty, little space. The shadows aren't as nice in my personal opinion as the shadows in the Joy to the Girls palette, but the shades in the Jingle all the Way palette are probably more wearable for a variety of skin tones as well as those who may not feel overly comfortable with applying eyeshadow. Unfortunately, these shades don't have individual names but there's everything from shimmering taupes, violets and teals, to bronzes, beige highlights and copper shades. The bronzer and blush are beautiful, being much more wearable on the skin than they appear in the pan and the bronzer in particular can be doubled up as a pale, bronze eyeshadow. This would make such a lovely gift for a friend this Christmas; I love it so much for more all-year-round everyday use, that I've picked one up for a friend this Christmas who has an iPhone too!
I'm besotted with both of these palettes and I would definitely recommend them as a Christmas beauty treat for a friend or family member, even more so as a treat to yourself! I have my eye on another palette and gift set from the Christmas collection, the absolutely breath-taking A Few of my Favourite Things Christmas Gift Set (Debenhams, £40.80) which is currently sold out, but I am determined to get my hands on! So far, Too Faced are easily the palette winners of the season, just beautiful.
