Paul & Joe Bleu, a new favourite A/W scent

Paul & Joe Bleu

The time for Summer fruity, zesty and floral scents that are sweet and subtle, has well and truly gone. Summer has said goodbye and we are well into the swing of Autumn and a cold Winter ahead. For me, this means changing up my scents, so that they're more season-appropriate. Of course, on a day to day basis I generally wear whatever scent I please, regardless of season. But when Autumn shows it's first signs, most of my S/S scents are shunned away and my A/W scents really come out to play. One which is new to my collection and has completely captivated my senses; as well as really changing things up scent wise, is the Paul & Joe Bleu* (Selfridges*, 50ml, £39) Firstly, let's cover aesthetics. True to all Paul & Joe packaging, this is a beauty. It comes in a deep, dark opaque navy blue bottle with a simple, small silver plaque bearing the name. The bottle is curved, and along with the shell ridged bottle top/lid, it leaves me thinking of mermaids. Perhaps this is one beauty treat Aerial would have loved to find?

Bleu is unlike any scent I have tried before. It has more oomph to it than any of my other beloved A/W scents, it has more depth and more of a kick to it. The first time I tried it, it was slightly overwhelming; so strong and warming, but the more I've used it, the more I am finding this an addictive scent. It's described by Paul & Joe as the perfect night time scent, although I love this during the day too. With a true oriental scent that's musky and has a touch of floral, this makes a truly feminine scent, that's chic and mature, but sensuous and captivating at the same time. It has top notes of bergamot, coriander, cumin and ylang ylang, with heart notes of jasmine, rose, magnolia and heliotrope, with base notes of oak, moss, patchouli, sandalwood, myrrh, labdanum, vanilla and musk - a really impressive list! This isn't a subtle scent. It's empowering, invigorating and has that something-something that my other A/W scents lack. It's powerful, with a long-lasting scent that makes me ready for scarves, gloves and knitted jumpers. It makes me excited for Christmas, instantly makes me feel warmer and more content on a cold Autumn day, and the bottle is just beautiful. There's so much to love with this fragrance and not one thing I don't like... So much so, I plan on adding Blanc, the counterpart to Bleu, to my collection very soon!

What's your favourite A/W scent?

  1. I didn't even know that Paul & Joe did fragrance. As with all of their products the packaging is pretty. I am the same I don't change my scent with the season I wear what I fancy that day.
I love Musky scents as they smell feminine but sophisticated. If I get a n opportunity to test this I will be giving it s spritz.
I have been loving the new Giorgio Armani Si fragrance. This is something different for me as I am normally very loyal to my favourite perfumes but it smells so pretty & musky too
