KIKO, the brand to look out for

KIKO Dark Heroine Collection

KIKO has featured here on Tattooed Tealady a couple of times now. I shared my love for their body products and makeup. I really love the KIKO Firming Iridescent Cream, which leaves my legs feeling amazingly firm and supple. The KIKO Crackling Legs Mousse was a life saviour over the warmer months when the sun was making my skin feel unbearably hot, cooling them right down - a real summer must-have. I featured both of these in more detail in my post 'Seven Steps to Perfect Summer Legs'. I also recently shared my thoughts on some of KIKO's makeup range, reviewing the Eye Clics 03 as well as Infinity and Infinity+ Sparkle eyeshadows, from the new KIKO Clics System release.  Today I am going to be sharing some beautiful products - products which have made me a little bit besotted with KIKO!

The KIKO Dark Heroine Collection* was my first dabble into the expansive KIKO makeup line and it is a limited edition collection. The collection is huge, with a much wider variety of products to try out than collections you would expect from higher-end brands such as MAC. The Dark Heroine collection compromises of two bronzers, two dazzling highlighters, six velvet stick blushes, six eye pencils, four six shade palettes, six latex like lipsticks, six laser nail lacquers, ten smokey look eyeshadow crayon pens, a serum and a face brush.... that is a lot of products for a limited edition collection. The other benefit to this collection over high-end limited edition collections, is that everything in the collection is pretty purse friendly and most products are around half the price of a product from a high-end collection. I was kindly sent four products from the Dark Heroine collection to try out and I have to admit, these are products which have far surpassed any expectations I had.

KIKO Dark Heroine Collection

KIKO Dazzling Highlighter Illuminating Stick Moonlight Gold (KIKO*, £7.90) - For me this is more of a holiday highlighter; something you'd take away with you for a gorgeous white toned highlighter with both gold and pink iridescent shimmer running through it. Perfect for highlighting the cheekbones, adding a touch of definition to your brow bone and can even be used on your decolletage. In the stick the product is firm, compact and works on a twist-up mechanism. The product feels solid when applied to your skin (if applying to cheeks/decolletage, I like to apply straight from the stick (although for my brow bone I use my fingers) and it blends really effortlessly, leaving powder finish and a flawless complexion. There's one other shade, which is a pale rose shimmer called Gleaming Apricot.

KIKO Velvet Stick Blush Charming Peach (KIKO*, £7.90) - Charming Peach is a beautiful colour. In the stick it looks exactly the same shade as the packaging, very bright, very vibrant. When applied to the skin, the shade is intense, but not too over the top. Once you start blending however, this blush completely transforms and a beautiful pink starts to appear running throughout the shade. It is a very beautiful product to work with, has the same cream to powder formula as Moonlight Gold and is very easy to apply. There's also five other shades in the range; Intuitive Rose Coral, Absolute Mauve, Cadillac Pink, Verve Peony and Select Espresso - a shade for a huge variety of skin tones.

KIKO Twinkle Eye Pencil Flexuous Burgundy (KIKO*, £6.90) - There's six shades in the Twinkle Eye Pencil range and I was thrilled to receive Flexuous Burgundy which is a beautiful burgundy which has a fine shimmer running through. It's perfect as a liner, even nicer blended out and it's soft enough to apply effortlessly, and stays put. A good bi-phase makeup remover for this one girls! The other shades in the range include Desired Gold, Inspiring Golden Brown, Bewitched Periwinkle, Elastic Teal and Hypnotic Starry Black.

KIKO Colour Impact Eyeshadow Palette Lounge Warm Tones (KIKO*, £16.90) - There's two things I absolutely adore about this palette. The purse-friendly price tag, for a pretty big, impressive eyeshadow palette, is an absolute bargain, I love it! Secondly, the shades. By far the star product of the four I've been trying, I am besotted with this warm toned palette which is perfect for the autumnal weather. The shadows can be used wet or dry, and I find them massively pigmented. The formula is a dreamy satin powder, which applies effortlessly and the shades range from matte shades through to sparking finish shades. I find the longevity of these shadows fantastic and they are incredibly easy to blend, making them a dream to work with. Ensuring I use a good eye primer (which I do every time I wear eyeshadow and my favourite is the Urban Decay Primer Potion), these last all day with no worries of creasing - a fantastic palette, travel friendly and gorgeous shade combinations. In love. There's three other palettes in the range; Street Taupe Variation, Bright Night Lights and Rain Smoky Shades.

Overall I am hugely impressed with the Dark Heroin collection and I am really impressed on a whole with KIKO as a brand. I think their shadows easily rival many of my high-end shadows and their face products are just a dream. The eyeliner is the perfect everyday shade that's also versatile to be used at night and I cannot get over how absolutely stunning the shades are in the palette. If you haven't tried KIKO yet, what are you waiting for?

    1. Haha it's not shallow - The packaging massively appeals to me too, I love packaging like this! And I think packaging/scent is often just as much of an important factor when choosing a product, as the product itself! xo
