Antipodes Apostle Serum - Holy Grail.

A picture of Antipodes Apostle

I am often complimented by others on having really rather lovely skin. Yet like many of you reading, I am sure I am not alone here, when I look at my skin I see imperfection after imperfection. I am starting to be a bit more accepting and happier with my skin, such as braving it out into the big wide World without any makeup on as I shared in my May 12 Lessons Learned post. But I genuinely don't think I would have been anywhere near confident enough with my skin or ready enough to brave the outside World without makeup if it wasn't for this product. Antipodes is a brand who no matter what product I try, each and every product has made a really tremendous difference to how I feel about my skin as well as my confidence.

I've briefly covered my skin type before here on the blog but I have never really gone into detail. So let's get stuck right in shall we? Technically, I have combination/oily skin, but in general I think this skin type can be a little bit mis-leading (let me know if you'd like to see some posts on different skin types, which products specific skin types should use or avoid etc) I would like to say I have an oily t-zone but really, my oil problems extend far further than my t-zone. Throughout the day my skin will produce oil on my forehead (mainly in the center), my nose, the area around the apples of my cheeks and my chin. The amount of oil my skin produces has been halved and halved again over the past 18 months for the stricter, better quality skincare routine I have in place. Nowadays I can happily go out for the entire day with a full face of makeup on and only have to touch up with my Ben Nye Banana Powder once, which I think is pretty good going. Although barely noticeable to the naked eye, I have a huge thing about the pores on my nose. I just hate them! I shouldn't spend so long scrutinizing them in my No7 incredibly zoomed in mirror, but I do. The final thing which majorly knocks my confidence where my skin is concerned, is pigmentation issues. This product has massively helped but I suppose I should explain more about the pigmentation issues I have for you to understand the really incredible difference this product has made. Around my mouth, my nose and chin I have darker areas of skin. Originally my family are from Cyprus so I already have a pretty lovely Mediterranean skin tone. But what I also seem to have inherited with that is pigmentation issues in skin tone, all over my body. I can pretty much deal with the pigmentation issues on my body, which stick to my knees, neck, underarms, thighs and some of my torso. These are all areas which can be covered and I got over mostly a long time ago. But the areas on my face really severely destroyed my confidence for many years. To me, the areas looked dirty, masculine and pretty darn unattractive. I would never have braved a bare face outside before using this product, as my pigmentation particularly around my mouth and chin was super, super dark. It left me embarrassed, self conscious and also at times, incredibly upset.

The Antipodes Apostle Skin-Brightening & Tone-Correcting Serum* was on my skincare wishlist for a pretty long time as from reviews I had read it was the only product which seemed to show real results where skin pigmentation issues are concerned. I was very kindly sent a bottle from the Antipodes team in New Zealand and I have now been using it for around seven weeks I would say. I use this morning and night straight after my toner, and like many Antipodes products it just doesn't seem to have even made a dent. In seven weeks I have probably used just 1/6th of the product in the bottle, which is fab and shows it's set to last a long time. Which is good because this isn't the most purse-friendly skincare product priced at £41.99 on FeelUnique (with free delivery) So what does it do? Apostle is a water-based corrective serum, which makes it sound super gentle and it is, but the effects Apostle give are far more than you'd expect from a water-based serum. Apostle works to target pigmentation, brighten your skin as well as restoring an even skin tone. It's designed to be used daily and as I said I use this morning and night after my toner. It contains revolutionary bio-active ingredients from New Zealand nature, such as Waiwera mineral water from an ancient spring and it also works to restore moisture and hydration to dehydrated, thirsty skin, with antioxidant-rich Vinanza Performance Plus which targets and corrects facial redness as well as the melanin production which causes discolouration. It has a super gentle and subtle exfoliationg action with it's superfruit kiwi enzyme and soothing Oxifend which comes from red grapes, as well as Mamaku black fern and Reishi mushroom which help with ensuring you have healthy cell renewal. When reading reviews for this product practically everyone said how quickly this serum got to work and even the packaging proudly promises that this serum has been scientifically proven to brighten complexion in just five days. And it isn't wrong, either.

The Antipodes Apostle Skin-Brightening and Tone-Correcting Serum has changed my life, and that really isn't an exaggeration. I'm not saying it's a wonder product because I was kindly sent the product for review, or because Antipodes is already a well known and popular brand for their products and a brand I love. I genuinely mean it when I say that this product has truly changed my life. After just three days I saw massive differences in the level of darkness of pigmentation, particular in my worst area around my mouth and chin. Continuous use over the past seven weeks has left my skin brighter, with a skin tone which is almost perfectly even and my areas of darker pigmentation have been reduced to almost nothing. I can now only notice the slightest darker pigmentation in the areas where it was worse and I cannot tell you how absolutely amazing that is. When I started to notice the results, I felt like a weight was being lifted. This product has made my skin feel like a whole new skin. It's brighter, clearer, more even. It's amazing. I just cannot praise this product enough, it has had an incredibly positive impact on my skin which has then had a huge impact on my day-to-day life and confidence. If that isn't enough to be a holy grail product, I don't know what is.

  7. I very much need to try this serum out. Although I don't have oily skin I do have some pigmentation issues which I'd hope this serum might help with.

I know what you mean about seeing flaws in your own skin - at 31 I get complimented on having very young-looking and smooth skin but all I can see are the problems with it :-)
