My first Chanel lipstick

For months now I have been dreaming about having a few proper high-end lipsticks. Why? I don't know. I know there are so many lovely high-street lipsticks, but I guess I just wanted a few more special lipsticks to call my own. So when I was in Debenhams last month and they had 10% off across all beauty, I figured it would be a good time to take the plunge and got a little bit swatch happy at the Chanel stand.

I decided on this beautiful coral pink shade, '43 La Favorite', just the kind of colour I love for the warmer months. I was surprised to find a colour so much to my liking, as most high-end brands I have checked out don't have a huge colour range and tend to have more muted, mature shades. For my first high-end lipstick, I am really impressed with it. It has a lovely soft and creamy formula, with massives of colour pay off as well as super long lasting colour. It dries to a matte finish on me, which is my preferred lipstick finish. I love the classic Chanel bullet design, so sleek and feminine yet masculine at the same time. There's only one problem I have with this lipstick, and that's that it seems to be much, much shorter than most lipsticks I am used to. I would say this has a good cm less product in it than a MAC lipstick, for example. And for a lipstick which costs £25, you'd expect it not to be on the short side...

I'm not sure if I would buy another Chanel lipstick, at least not just yet anyway. £25 is a lot to pay for a lipstick, and the fact it is shorter in size than most makes me feel like I can't wear it as much as I would like to. But there's no denying I'm smitten - It's just beautiful!

You can find this lipstick on the Debenhams website here and it costs £25. You can also see the lipstick in action on my Instagram photo here.

  1. You are right! I rarely see girly shades in high-end brands. But this shade sure looks wonderful.

    1. They definitely are very pricey but my more high-end lipsticks I use less often, so they will last a long time :) xo

It's a shame you get less product though - not what you expect at that price :/

  9. this is a beautiful shade and perfect for Spring. I can imagine it looks really lovely on you! I agree about high end lipsticks and their tendancy to have a limited, more mature colour range. But Chanel update theirs quite often - i really love some of their reds and oranges! Love it :) xx

  10. The slight less product, in my opinion, doesn't really matter. The quality is amazing, you do really get what you pay for, and plus, its Chanel :)

  17. I just want to point out and take no offense by this but the Chanel has 3.5 grams if you look at the box, compared to M.A.C which has 3 grams. So you're actually getting more. I think it just looks shorter because it's a bit stubbier.
