I have a few products from NARS but it's still a brand that's relatively new to me. I always go into my local Space NK and have a little swatch and 'ohh' and 'ahh' over all the pretty colours, but it's a brand it takes a lot for me to part with my pennies for. Why? I have no idea. I have NARS Laguna bronzer which is still one of my holy grail bronzers, and I recently treated myself to my very first NARS blush, in the beautiful shade Gilda, but it wasn't until this beautiful And God Created the Woman eyeshadow palette and kit came out that I decided enough was enough with lusting from afar with this brand, and I placed an order!
The NARS And God Created the Woman palette seriously blew me away when I saw it creeping into reviews online. The shades looked perfectly up my street and I really like the variety of shades as well as finishes; matte, slight shimmer and very shimmery shades. I also really like that it comes with a NARS mini Smudge-proof Eyeshadow Base as well as a NARS Eye Shader Brush. I don't think the Smudge-proof Eyeshadow base is quite as good as my Urban Decay Primer Potion, but the brush is absolutely wonderful and I actually find it a perfect brush for doing anything from applying colour all over the lid, to adding a touch of a smokey look in the crease.
The shades in the palette are just stunning and for my first time using NARS eyeshadows, I am massively impressed. They are gorgeous! Soft, easy to blend, packed with amazing pigmentation and the colour pay-off is amazing. They are also super long lasting! The packaging doesn't come with any information on shade names so I had to find out the individual shade names from a post written by the lovely Anna who runs Vivianna Does Makeup.
Alhambra is a pale champagne shade with a touch of shimmer, lovely for all over the lid or just in the inner corner of the eye to open your eyes up. Bellisima is a matte grey-toned taupe shade, with the most beautiful velvety soft texture, with I adore lightly all over the lid or a touch more is perfect in the crease for a light, day-time smokey eye. Kalahari is warm-toned shimmer rose gold shade, which has just that little bit more oomph than Alhambra. Galapagos is a warm golden brown shade with touches of fine, gold glitter, lovely for the outer two thirds of the lid. Coconut Grove is a deep, warm matte brown shade, which works beautifully teamed with Bellisima. And last but not least, Night Clubbing is a unique and creative shade with tones of black, onyx and fine gold glitter. Absolutely divine for creating a true smokey eye.
The palette itself costs £40.50, and that's including the eyeshadow base and brush. When I went to order mine, it took some searching! I had already been in to my local Space NK to find they didn't have it in and it was (and still is unfortunately) sold out on the Space NK website! I decided to check out the NARS official website and found it there, and placed my order before I changed my mind! Unfortunately, it now doesn't seem to even be on the NARS website... A Limited Edition palette that really has stayed true to it's name.
For my first time using NARS eye-shadows, I am now the biggest fan. I have reached for this palette most days since it arrived and I am just besotted! I think this was the perfect palette to break me in and although at first I was a little shocked at the small size of the palette (smaller than the Urban Decay Baked Basics and much smaller even than my phone!) I now think it's adorably cute. I am so impressed with the formula of the shadows and would definitely branch out to more from NARS now - although I think it'd prefer to pick up more palettes when they come out, than single or duo shadows. My favourite shades as swatched below are Alhambra, Galapagos, Bellisima and Night Clubbing.
