Trying the Origins Free Facial

A picture of a Origins Facial

Yesterday I had the absolute pleasure of heading to Origins in House of Fraser, Nottingham, for a full facial. If you're a regular reader of my blog you will know that skincare is a huge passion of mine, and also my favourite aspect of beauty. I've shared a few Origins products lately that I've been loving, such as the Origins GinZing eye-cream which I shared in my Skincare Series post on eye care, as well as the Origins Never a Dull Moment Face Polisher which I shared in my February Top 5. So when I was offered to pop along for an Origins facial, I was more than happy to oblige, having fallen in love with each of the Origins products I have tried so far. To me, a facial is one of the most luxuriously relaxing things you can do. And although I often indulge in pampering skincare at home, it just doesn't compare to a proper facial.

What's so special about Origins?
Origins is my favourite kind of brand - natural! In the late 1980's, a team of visionary beauty chemists and plant scientists began to study the power of potent plants, their history of use in traditional medicine and the role they might play to resolve skin's most pressing concerns. Taking these ancient concepts and modernising them with advanced scientific technology in order to create the World's first prestige, high-performance skincare made with ingredients from nature. Origins has a 'mission', and their mission is to create high-performance skincare which is powered by nature and proven by science. Origins very own scientists travel all over the World finding the perfect ingredients which work in the best way possible for our skin. Origins use potent plants, organic ingredients and 100% natural essential oils, as well as having a long-standing commitment to protecting the planet, it's resources and all those who live on it. Even better? Their cruelty free! Each ingredient in Origins products is there for a reason, and has been picked for the benefits it has on the skin. With no parabens, phthalates, propylene glycol, mineral oil, PABA, petrolatum, paraffin, DEA or animal ingredients, you can be sure that Origins products are exactly what your skin needs, with no nasties and animal and planet friendly.

What is an Origins facial?
There are two types of facials on offer at Origins counters. There is the mini facial, which is absolutely free and includes a one on one skincare consultation, nature's gentle dermabrasion treatment, a problem-solving mask for your skin concern treatment, and finished off with the perfect high-performance moisturiser and serum for your skin type. The mini facials are carried out by Origins concessions and are free. The second facial offered by Origins is an hour long facial in Origins own treatment rooms. With the same procedure as the mini facial, the treatment room facial (which is the one I had) is in a beautifully relaxing treatment room, with your one on one skin consultation, a brief history of Origins, a run down of products as well as trying products out, before your facial which is explained step by step. You even get a few generous samples of your favourite products from the facial to take away and try at home. The treatment room facials do require a £10 booking fee, but this is then redeemable against any Origins products you may want to buy!

My Origins facial
Since my facial was booked in almost two weeks ago, I have been so, so excited for the day. It's been an absolute age since I had a proper facial and I was excited to see what Origins had to offer. I found the skin consultation and run-down of products to be super relaxed, with the lovely Nichola explaining to me the different products which would be most suitable for my oily/combination skin. We decided to concentrate most on my blocked pores and oily skin, as well as paying attention to my cheeks which I feel are a bit drier than I would like. The consultation was done at the Origins counter, before we headed in to the Origins treatment room for the facial. Huge kudos to Origins and House of Fraser on the treatment room; a really relaxed room with a soothing feel, toned down lights and beautifully decorated. The facial itself was absolute bliss. Using all Origins products, I had my makeup removed, my face washed and cleansed, followed by a full face exfoliant, concentrating more on my nose, as well as two face masks for my different skin concerns, and finished off with some skincare; eye cream, serum and moisturiser. Afterwards my skin was left glowing, brighter and looking far more awake than it has in a long time! My skin also felt divinely soft (and still does!), whilst looking clear and clean. It was heavenly.

My Origins facial was a lovely way to spend a Saturday afternoon. I loved learning more about a brand I already adore, trying out new products and adding a fair few to my wish list, as well as getting to experience a truly pampering Origins facial. Nichola is a true credit to Origins and made it a wonderful experience - and I know it won't be long before I am back for another! I really enjoyed all of the products used on me, and Modern Friction is now on my wish list to add to my ever growing skincare collection! If you haven't tried Origins for yourself yet, I think a facial would be a wonderful way to introduce yourself to the brand. You can find out where your nearest Origins counter is to book your very own Origins facial on the Origins website. And a huge thank you to Nichola for making my skin look and feel amazing!

  6. This is such a great idea. I think I would definitely go for the full facial - at £10 it's such a bargain, even without being able to redeem it on products afterwards!

    1. I wasn't going to put makeup on afterwards - As technically you're meant to let your skin breathe. But I had my makeup done at Bobbi Brown straight after, so it's fine :) xo
