VO5 VS Bumble & Bumble

If you have been following my blog for a while now you will know that that Summer I completely fell in love with the Bumble and Bumble Thickening Hairspray and it quickly became an absolute holy grail product for me whenever I wanted volume. It still is an absolute favourite, but when I was recently send the VO5 Plump it Up Amplifying Blow Dry Lotion, I noticed they were really quite alike, and it was the perfect opportunity for a comparison post.

So what does the Bumble and Bumble Thickening Hairspray do exactly?

Well, this is a product I personally adore, but a product I also know a lot of people don't get along with. For me, with my fine, lank and lifeless hair, this is a Godsend for giving me volume, particularly at the roots! I simply spray towards the root area on damp hair, then blow dry, and I am left with tons of volume which lasts all day (sometimes, well into the next day, too!) For me it is an ultimate product where volume products are concerned, and a firm favourite. But it also has a price tag to match. At £21.50 for a 250ml bottle, even the fact that this is still going strong with more than half left in it after half a year's use, it's going to be a miss for a lot of people due to the price. A star product I still believe it to be, but if you are looking for a more purse-friendly alternative, VO5 has the perfect product.

The VO5 Plump it Up Amplifying Blow Dry Lotion* comes in a bright and cheerful 100ml spray bottle and costs just £3.65. Considerably cheaper than the Bumble and Bumble Thickening Hairspray!

This product is wonderful! It has a light fruity and floral scent to it which is very enticing. I use this in the same way I use my Bumble and Bumble product, but I also spray a bit of this all over my hair, opposed to just my root area. Although it doesn't give me as much volume as the Bumble and Bumble product does, it does give me volume! Whilst at the same time giving me hold, helping cut down blow dry time and leaving my hair looking and feeling incredibly soft and healthy. This is definitely more of an every day product for me and for anyone who has tried the Bumble and Bumble Thickening Hairspray and not gotten on with it, or anyone who just couldn't quite justify the cost of it, this wonder product from VO5 is one I would really recommend you try out!

  5. I love the VO5 dusting powder for root volume so i'm confident their spray will be a good purchase! I have really flat poker straight hair and the Bumble and Bumble thickening spray sounds perfect for me but not sure I'd be happy to spend that much on 1 hair product though.

    VO5 it is!

  6. This looks really good - the longer I grow my hair, the less volume I get which I hate so must have a look for this!!
