How to Get the Most Wear Out of Knitwear

At the beginning of the year it can be tempting to fast forward straight to our all new Spring/Summer wardrobes. While it would be lovely to bag up those jumpers and jeans and treat ourselves to lighter, brighter new outfits, this is sadly a case of wishful thinking. From January on-wards, we’re likely to be needing our knitwear for a good few months yet. What you can do, however, is refresh your jumper drawer with some new styles, and perhaps some lighter knitwear that’s perfect for the transitional months before Summer brings with it the warmer weather.

However, there’s no need to spend a fortune at this late stage in the season. Look for thinner knits that can be layered up or worn alone, to get the most bang for your buck. You’ll find a wide range of jumpers from ASDA, meaning that you can give yourself a whole new look without breaking the bank, including:

Classic Styles
Classic black never goes out of fashion, and every woman needs some classic black knitwear in her wardrobe. However, why not put your own spin on a timeless look by choosing a black jumper with embellishment such as the G21 Stud Jumper Dress or a textured knit like the Textured Knit Tunic Jumper. With both these examples costing just £16 from George at ASDA Direct, you can step outside of the box a little and mix up your black knitwear collection.

Fun Styles
Choosing low cost supermarket brand clothing also means that you can afford to experiment a little more – and perhaps inject some fun into your wardrobe? Chase away dark winter days with some bright knits like the bold green Exclamation Mark Jumper or the G21 Cat Tunic Jumper. Longer line tunic style knits are ideal for wearing over simple black leggings, for a no effort, funky look.

Casual Styles
Hooded knits are perfect from throwing on over your loungewear when just chilling out at home. The George Chunky Knit Zip Through Cardigan ticks all of the boxes – soft, cosy, comfortable and with a cute hood – it will look great over everything from your pj’s to your jeans.

Work Styles
Simple knitwear is great for the workplace – especially when the aircon starts a-blowing! If you don’t work in a ‘suit’ environment, a fitted scoop neck cardigan in a classic colour is a smart alternative. Or, for something a little different, why not try a cropped jacket style knit such as the George Contrast Trim Cardigan, which is ideal for wearing over anything from a black shift dress to a timeless white shirt.

Evening Styles
There’s no reason why you can’t wear your knitwear out on an evening, if you choose the right styles. A smart cardigan makes the perfect warm cover up over sleeveless dresses – the Barbara Hulanicki Jersey Drape Cardigan at ASDA would make a great choice.

Keep cosy until the sun decides to show its face again. Refresh your jumper drawer with a selection of new knits that you can wear right up to summer.
