Selfridges Beauty Workshop Lucky Bags

A picture of Selfridges Beauty Workshop Lucky Bags

Back in August Selfridges released a limited edition bespoke beauty box to celebrate the launch of their new beauty hall. I managed to get my hands on one of these boxes, which costing only £15, had a total worth of nearly £160. Quite possibly the best value for money I have ever had the pleasure of receiving. You can read my review of this limited edition bespoke beauty box and see everything I got in it, here

Because I loved the beauty box so much and it was such an absolute bargain full to the brim of wonderful products, most full sized, I was very excited and happy to see that Selfridges were doing some Lucky Bags (think lucky dip!) The only difference with these from the beauty boxes is that the beauty box was advertised with the full contents revealed, whereas these weren't.

"Just in time for Christmas, The Beauty Workshop at Selfridges launches the much-anticipated Lucky Bag. A lucky dip from the most exciting make-up, hair, skin and body brands, hand-picked within The Beauty Workshop at Selfridges. Each bag includes a minimum of five beauty must-haves, while a very lucky few contain a Beauty Workshop service gift card for the ultimate pampering experience worth £170, making the Lucky Bag the perfect Christmas gift for beauty fanatics."

Never the less, despite knowing that they would be a risk to buy with not knowing what was inside, I decided to take the plunge. I actually bought two, hoping and wishing I wouldn't get two bags with the same contents. For me, the risk paid off and I got two bags I am very happy with. I know a lot of people weren't as lucky and many people aren't happy with theirs, but unfortunately that is the risk you take when buying things like this. Each bag cost just £15 each! So, what did I get?

In bag #1 I got
A voucher for a £27 eyebrow shape treatment at the Blink bar in Selfridges
A Bobble Hat Shower Cap (full size, worth £4.25)
Anatomicals Snog Me Senseless Minty Tingling Lip Balm (full size, worth £2.90)
Inner Me Lustrous Locks Vitamin Complex (full size, worth £15)
St Tropez Everyday Body Moisturiser Medium Dark Gradual Tan (sample size, 50ml, worth £3.04)
Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant (sample size, 13g, worth £4.51)
Total value of Lucky Bag #1 = £56.70

In bag #2 I got
Bourjois Magic Nail Polish Remover (full size, worth £4.99)
Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar in shade Demure (full size, worth £10)
St Tropez Everyday Body Moisturiser Medium Dark Gradual Tan (sample size, 50ml, worth £3.04)
Eve Lom Rescue Mask (sample size, 15ml, worth £10.50)
Nails Inc. mini nail polish in a beige shade (4ml mini size, worth £2.75)
Violent Eyes Bronzer Glitteratti Eyes (full size, worth £10)
Total value of Lucky Bag #2 = £41.28

Personally, I am really happy with the contents of both bags. I took a risk and it paid off. Out of everything in both bags I will use everything except for the Violent Eyes (which I will be saving for a giveaway) and the shower gap which will make a perfect novelty Christmas gift for a friend. The Lip Tar and Magic Nail Polish Remover are both thinks which were on my wish list, and I have wanted to try something from Eve Lom for a while now. Overall, I'm happy! These bags are now sold out, but I am sure Selfridges will do another beauty related promotion like this again soon. Did you get one of these lucky bags? What was inside yours?

  6. I'm glad you liked the contents of your bags. I wasn't too pleased with mine, but I knew the risk I was taking when ordering this bag. I'm just giving the majority of my things to my younger sister for Christmas. However, I got the same lip balm/gloss as you and I absolutely love it. I'll definitely repurchase it!

  7. I didn't even know these existed! I think I prefer for 2nd goodie bag, mainly for the Eve Lom and the Nails Inc mini. I think I'll get one of these as an Xmas gift to myself and perhaps one for my mum for christmas too.

I'll have to make sure I find out earlier next time if they have some special beauty promotion!

  18. I'm glad you're happy with your bags! As you know already, mine didn't impress me much - but as you correctly say, it's a risk. Although some of the really unimpressive items in some bags were ridiculous - namely, tissues?!?! x

  19. I took the risk & was very dissapointed - I got the lip tar which was good & the eyebrow shape - also good but I got two lots of beauty supplimants pills which I would never ever use. So I returned the bag and explained why to Selfridges. yes it is a risk, but personally I don't think I will do something like this again. You got a couple of nice things though :) x

  21. I recieved mine today. I have mixed feelings about mine and judging what others got in there bag i can't help but feel slightly disappointed. The value of mine came just under £40 baring in mind i also got a £17 eyebrow voucher. So i probably didn't get alot for my money adding the expensice £4.95 delivery charge. I shouldn't of looked because mine is off my bf for christmas. I think he may add a few products to it :)

    1. It's the same with beauty boxes though. People forget what they are buying and then complain... I was very lucky those with these two bags I think xo
