I always see interesting tags on YouTube and I don't always feel that a lot of them are easy to do over on your blog without using YouTube! So, I have put together my own little tag. I know there are a lot of similar tags, but I hope you will like mine and I hope you will do it too!
The Beauty Bloggers Tag is all about YOU. Why you blog, what inspired you, how you started, who your inspirations are, what you've learnt from beauty blogging and what you enjoy the most!
Why did you start blogging and how long have you been blogging for?
I have had a few blogs over the years, mainly over on Tumblr. So for me, blogging wasn't anything new. But beauty blogging is a completely different World to Tumblr and to concentrate on just one subject, beauty, took some persuasion I started blogging in April 2012, after some gentle persuasion from my best friend Hayley (she runs Wife Life Beauty xo, so check out her blog!) and I am so glad I finally listened to her and started this blog! I have been blogging for 7 months now and I love updating my blog every single day!
Whose blog did you fall in love with first?
There's going to be no surprise here but the first blogs and bloggers I fell in love with are very popular bloggers here in the UK. These are bloggers whose blogs I became fascinated with, would read (and still do) every single day and who really inspired me to try and do well with my blog. These are a group of girls I look up to and respect a lot, and I will always trust and value their opinion where beauty is concerned.
What was the first blogosphere hyped about product you bought and was it worth the hype?
The first product I bought which was majorly influenced by blogging and reading other people's blogs, was the Revlon Lip Butters. I love them! I think they are definitely worth the hype and I want to add more to my collection. Revlon isn't a brand I used to gravitate towards before blogging, so I'm not sure I would have even looked at them if it wasn't for blogging and the rave reviews they got over the summer, but I am glad I did.
What are your favourite five things about blogging and being a beauty blogger?
I suppose the first thing would be that I get to talk about makeup and beauty as much as I like without feeling like I'm crazy! The blogging World means I can share my favourite products and my tiny (OK, very big) obsession with beauty and not worry that other's won't understand or think I'm weird, because we all share that same love, passion and obsession!
I think the blogging community is a huge thing for me when I think about my favourite things about blogging because I have met some of the most lovely girls (and boys!) through this blog and through taking part in the blogging community and it's great to have such a close knit, dedicated and friendly community to fall back on and talk with!
I love how many new brands I have been introduced to through blogging, especially skincare brands. Brands I probably never would have heard of if it wasn't for this blog and the blogs I read.
I love how easy it is to interact with everyone who reads my blog, through Twitter or replying to comments. It's lovely getting to know the people who take the time to read my ramblings.
And last but not least, when I share a product I love and adore and then people come back to me and say they went out and bought it too and love it just as much as me. It's nice to know people love the same products as you!
What have you learnt from being a beauty blogger?
I think the most important thing I have learnt is that just because a product is raved about and hyped up, doesn't mean it will work for me or that I will like it. I've learnt that sometimes it is better to wait and see what everyone else thinks to a product before taking the plunge. And I've learnt that I will always lust after American products and wish the UK stocked the same brands and ranges!!
Have you changed anything since being a beauty blogger?
Yes, massively! I have completely changed the techniques I have for applying makeup. I have taken ways and techniques I had before, and bettered them. All through tips and advice from other beauty bloggers!
What advice would you give to a beauty blogger just starting out?
Have fun! Throw yourself (not literally, ouch!) in to the blogging community and talk to people. It's a big, big community out there and it's not half as scary as you might think!
Name your top five brands!
For makeup it would be MAC and Rimmel London. For body care I would say overall, Korres. For hair care without a shadow of a doubt, Bumble and Bumble - Nothing quite makes my hair feel as amazing as a bit of Bumble and Bumble! And for skincare (the hardest one for me!) overall, I would say Liz Earle is my favourite and top brand for skincare!
Recommend your top five favourite beauty products!
Skincare wise it just has to be the Omorovicza Rejuvenating Night Cream. Makeup, I would say any of the Urban Decay palettes and any of the MAC lipsticks (esp the matte and amplified ones!) Hair care I would definitely have to pick Bumble and Bumble, particularly their Seaweed Mild Marine shampoo! And body care, the Rituals Touch of Heaven Organic Sweet Orange and Cedar ultra rich, whipped body cream!
