The 100 Day Challenge - Update # 1

If you read my post on the 1st of June you will know that I have decided to do the '100 Day Challenge' (read here) The 100 Day Challenge is basically a spending ban; no buying anything for 100 days. Which equates to three months and one week - A long time! Of course I have set myself certain rules with this challenge, which you can find within the post linked above.

I will be doing a little update on my progress on a weekly basis, however this first update is two weeks after I started. Why you may ask? Well because I have Download festival last week so I was unable to write it until now!

First let's start with products I have been lusting after in the past fortnight (and trust me, there's a lot)

L'oreal Infallible Foundation / L'Occitane Pivoine Delicate Shimmering Powder

Benefit Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow Foundation / Femergy Supplements

Avene Thermal Spring Water Spray / Bourjois No Chips Nail Polish Shade 26

MAC Plink / L'oreal Infallible Eyeshadow's

MAC Morange / Revlon Lip Butter Candy Apple

Essie Tart Deco / Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus by John Gray
All photos taken from Google images.

As you can see, that's quite a list! I'm keeping a written list of every thing I want throughout the challenge so that I can remember everything by the end of it!

I'm lusting after the L'oreal Infallible foundation after seeing a review by Emma who runs La Vie, Style et Beaute, praising it for those with oily skin, which I have. I've also wanted to try the Benefit Hello Flawless liquid foundation for a while now, but never been able to test the shades at a counter, yet. I saw the L'Occitane Pivone Delicate on a few people's blogs recently and particularly in a video by Louise from Sprinkle of Glitter and it made me lust after it's shimmery goodness! It's also through Louise that I was introduced to the L'oreal Infallible Eyeshadow dusts which I am in love with and want so many shades of! The Femergy tablets are something I found on Blue Rinse, a blog run by Laurie Rose. I've been curious about the Avene Thermal Spring Water spray for a while now and after seeing Estee who runs Essie Button, review of it in her May favourites video, I'm lusting after it now! I've never tried a Bourjois nail polish and every time I see the no chips line in store, I want to give it a go, specifically shade # 26! MAC Morange is a lipstick shade I have lusted after for weeks and weeks now, but I need to swatch it again in store to be sure of whether I could pull it off and Plink is actually a new one I have come across thanks to a review by Lauren who runs The Beauty Habit. I've also been lusting after the Candy Apple shade from the Revlon Lip Butter's range for a while now as well as Tart Deco from Essie, both of which I think are gorgeous shades! And last but not least, a book. 'Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus' by John Gray, which I know will definitely still be on my wish list by the time the challenge is complete!

But how, I hear you ask, has my spending been during the first two weeks of my 100 day challenge? Well. So far, so good!! I did spend some money on food, drinks, a necklace and a new nose ring at Download, but I had put money aside for Download months ago so that definitely wasn't part of the challenge. I haven't ordered anything, I haven't bought anything, in fact I haven't even been shopping to be tempted to even swatch anything! I have however had a massive helping hand in curving my spending; I have won two more giveaways, which I shall do posts on when they arrive, and one of my pen pals whose package for me arrived yesterday, filled it with beautiful body and bath products!

So, so far it's been pretty easy. I am however expecting this to get very hard, very quickly!

  6. I think this is a great idea, I want to do something similar but I'm not sure whether I have the self discipline :p The great thing about compiling wishlists is that often the things we want at a certain moment in time aren't the same things we want a few weeks down the track. And if we end up still wanting those products, at least they've withstood the test of time and it wasn't just a passing fancy :)

  8. Thats an awesome idea! I would never be able to pull it off. I only managed 1 project 10 pan and it felt awesome. That took about 3 weeks.

    Good luck with the challenge!

(Btw, the Avene thermal water is awesome!)

  9. Hey Sophia! I bought the L'oreal Infallible foundation last week (they discontinued my normal foundation - FREAK OUT!!) and it's fantastic; didn't stay on as long as my beloved fav (Revlon Beyond Natural Skin Matching)but definitely a good investment!

Good luck with the challenge BTW, and sorry to hear Download was a bit rubbish for ya :-(

  13. Well done you. I always have a wishlist going and sometimes find that after a while I don't actually want the product I thought I needed. So i find wishlists helpful when trying not to spend. xx

  14. Ah i love posts like this, good luck to you I'm 99% certain I'd fail miserably! I used to use the L'oreal infallible foundation and stopped because it oxidises quite badly and goes patchy through the day x
