My favourite foundations.

A picture of foundations suitable for oily skin
I've tried a lot of foundations over the years and I finally have three which are ones I plan to keep in my make up collection. But as I have different uses for each, I thought I would do a quick review on each.

Rimmel has long been one of my favourite brands. The products are affordable whilst still managing to provide long lasting likable products. A great long lasting foundation is Rimmel's 25 hour lasting finish foundation. The product advertises itself as "Want a foundation that lasts as long as you do? Giving a smooth lightweight coverage, lasting finish 25 hour foundation leaves skin feeling hydrated all day. The transfer proof and fade proof formula means your foundation now lasts up to 25 hours, for a day that never stops." And last it does! It's not great with my oily skin, but it does last as long as it says and it leaves a soft, smooth finish. This foundation comes in six shades and is one I would recommend for anyone who has to deal with long days!

My rimmel foundation is one I have stuck with for a couple of years now, and over last summer I decided to get a colour match from MAC because I needed a lighter foundation for the winter, when I am not so tanned. The girls in the Nottingham branch of MAC were really helpful and one matched me up to matchmaster SPF 15 foundation. The matchmaster SPF 15 foundation is advertised as "New foundation technology using translucent pigments to enable a fully personalised finish influenced by the subtleties of your own skin's undertone, with a moisturising demi-matte finish." I was really pleased with the look and it's a foundation I reserve mainly for nights out or if I am going somewhere nice for the day, because it creates a flawless finish. I love this MAC foundation but for a poor student on a budget, it's a little out of my price range which is why it's reserved for 'special occasions'. This foundation is available in 14 shades!

The third and final foundation in my make up collection is quite possibly the best foundation I have ever used. I suffer from oily skin and this is the first foundation which has lasted me all day without letting my oily skin take over control. Advertised as "Reveal the miracle of flawless skin. Up to 16 hour shine control with a soft matte satin finish. The dreamlike easy glide formula blurs blemishes, giving a full, even coverage." This foundation is a miracle worker! It's a little difficult to apply with a brush because it mattifies quite quickly, but the finish is amazing and it really does last all day. I could not recommend this foundation more for anyone with oily skin, I've been raving about it to anyone that will listen, even the boyfriend who doesn't have a clue about make up! It's just a perfect, affordable foundation that does the job and more! Available in six shades!

  3. thank you for the review! Have you tried any mineral foundation powders? I use bareminerals and it works great unless you have dry skin, then it looks horrendous!

    1. I haven't, no. My skin is oily but when fresh washed my face goes quite dry so when I apply make up I need something with a liquid texture. I do use a pressed powder on top though! xo

  5. I've not tried the 25 hour Rimmel one, but I have their Match Perfection gel foundation and it's quite good. I really want to try their latest foundation (Wake Me Up), but I've heard generally positive reviews about the 25 hour one :)

    1. I really wanted to try the Wake Me Up foundation too and I had to stop myself getting it last week when shopping, as I knew I really needed a matte foundation to battle my oily skin! xo
