I'm skipping the usual favourites post this month and instead, as we say goodbye to 2012 and welcome in a new and exciting 2013, I am going to share with you my top 12 products of 2012! These are products I use daily, products I am in love with, products I reach for over others and ones I would recommend over and over again!
28 December 2012
I recently shared with you my thoughts on the Macadamia Natural Oil Healing Spray. Today I am going to be sharing with you all what I think to a far more spoken about and popular product from Macadamia, the Macadamia Natural Oil Deep Repair Masque. You've probably seen a lot of reviews of this particular product - It seemed to be everywhere over the Summer period when people remember that our hair needs pampering just as much as our face and body. And it certainly seems to be a popular choice among bloggers.

If you know me well you will know that I am a complete book worm and like many people in England, I grew up with the J.K.Rowling Harry Potter books. I know to some people this will be a very sad thing to say - But Harry Potter has been a massive part of my life. Both in a World where I could disappear into magical books which stole my imagination, as well as on screen with eight wonderfully made films, the last of which had me crying throughout. Harry Potter is a tremendously big part of my childhood. So when my bestest said she would like to take me to Stratford-Upon-Avon as an early Christmas present to visit Magic Alley, a Harry Potter themed museum, I couldn't resist! I took lots of photos and thought I would share just a few of those with you today.
22 December 2012
If you asked me 9 months ago what my favourite makeup brushes were, I would have said Real Techniques. But since trying out a few brushes from Sigma (read my review of six brushes from Sigma here) that has completely changed. Sigma brushes are in a league of their own and I am on a beauty-obsessive mission to have the entire Sigma collection eventually (sooner rather than later, please) They are amazing. They are everything everyone says they are, they make makeup application easier, they make techniques easier as well as perfected and they are just an utter dream to use. I genuinely could not recommend picking up some Sigma brushes enough!
20 December 2012
Not long ago I shared with you a new favourite blush and lipstick. Both by Artdeco and part of the Dita Von Teese collection, I found the formulas and lasting power to be quite phenomenal. The blush is now a favourite of mine and the lipstick, a beautiful pink, is by far my favourite, powerfully bright pink lipstick. You can read my review of both the blush and lipstick here. Today I am going to be sharing with you three new eye-shadows and an eye-liner added to the Dita Von Teese line.
19 December 2012
If you've been following my blog for a while now you will know that despite my ever growing blush collection, it's just not something I am overly confident with. I've been slowly introducing myself to different blushes, finishes, shades, formulas and brands over the past six months or so and some I adore and can happily wear quite confidently, others I am a bit stuck with and just don't know how I feel about them. One thing I have found hardest to find my knack with and struggle with application wise, is any blush which isn't powder. Creams, liquid, mousse. I just seem incapable! But there is one blush which falls into these categories that I can get to grips with and I have really started to love it.

This is the last of the Christmas gift sets from Benefit I will be sharing with you, just in time for you to pop out and treat yourself or a friend before the horrendous Christmas eve shopping rush! This gift set comes in a beautifully sturdy suitcase like box, with pretty floral and gold designs. I love gift boxes like this because they are reusable and I'll be using this to store my favourite memories. What do you store in gift set boxes?
17 December 2012
I think we have all gathered by now with my reviews of the 24-7 Smoked Pencils set and the Vice palette, that I am a big, big Urban Decay fan. Personally, for me, their eye-shadows are completely unparalleled either on the high-street or with other high-end brands. I prefer them to any other brand, MAC and MUA included. Their eye-shadows are for me, perfection. So when Urban Decay shared news of their newest palette, the Naked Basics palette, I couldn't help but get incredibly excited.
15 December 2012

Corey Taylor. Front man of Slipknot and Stone Sour. And literary genius! Oh yes, this man, who wears masks and outfits to play on stage to hundreds of thousands of people, is an author. And a damn good one at that! His book, Seven Deadly Skins: Settling the argument between born bad and damaged good, is a favourite of mine. Released in the summer of 2011, I was lucky enough to grab one of the few tickets up for grabs for an 'Evening with Corey Taylor'. This evening, which just so happens to be one of the best events I have ever been to and one I will always remember, included Corey reading from his book, a question and answer with everyone there (I asked if he loves tea, which he does, and what his favourite tattoo is, which turns out to be his tattoo of late band member Paul Gray) and an acoustic set! Oh what I would do to go back to that night....
12 December 2012
I'm sure we'd all love to pay frequent visits to spas and have a lovely facial but for most of us, that just isn't justifiable money wise. I know I can't afford frequent facials anyway and the last one I had was about four years ago! (I know, as a skincare addict, this saddens me too!) But Pai have answered my prayers with their 3 Step Facial Set. A facial you can do within the comfort of your own home, finishing off with a nice cup of tea afterwards! The set contains three of Pai's products. There's the Pai Rosehip BioRegenerate Face Mask, the Pai Rosehip BioRegenerate Oil and a Pai Organic Muslin Cloth. A limited edition set, this is perfect for a bit of at home pampering.
Office party faux pas: the dos and don'ts this Christmas
Picture the scene: you wake up, the faint smell of party poppers still in your hair, last night's makeup perfectly imprinted on your pillow, as the memories beginning to gather themselves in your mind's eye. Three words begin to take shape, and a vague sense of panic kicks in: Office… Christmas… Party… wha-? Uh-oh. Queue the flashbacks…
11 December 2012
Another product I was lucky to find in one of my Selfridge's Lucky Bags (read review here) was an Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar in the shade Demure. I'm fairly new to Lip Tar's from OCC, I only recently heard of them through the #bbloggers chats over on Twitter but I was instantly intrigued and when I checked them out over on the Selfridge's website, there seemed to be tons of shades I would happily lust after. And I say lust, because I didn't really think they were worth the £10 price tag. But now I have one! And it's a lovely, if not impressively bright, purple pink shade. The shade is actually pretty much the exact shade you see in the tube. It's very me, and I love it!
10 December 2012
I was recently set a bloggers challenge by Ladbrokes. Now usually, I don't say yes to bloggers challenges. I guess I don't really like putting myself out there all too much and the bloggers challenges I usually get asked to do involve photos of me, and my face, and my hair. And I'm just awful at taking photos of myself! So when Ladbrokes asked me to do this particular bloggers challenge, which involved nail art, I thought OK, why not? I'm not very good at nail art, so I thought it might be a good excuse to put some practice in and see if I can get myself to a level where I can at least do something basic... Ladbrokes also provided all the tools so I really thought this was going to be fool proof... Oh how wrong I was. But first, let me just tell you what I got sent to attempt my nail nail masterpiece (cough) with!
9 December 2012
I quite like doing these worth the hype posts and when I received this little bright pink wonder bottle in one of my Selfridge's Lucky Bags (see review here!) I thought it would be the perfect opportunity for me to test it out and see whether it really is as amazing as everyone claims. So, what exactly does the Bourjois Magic Nail Polish Remover claim to do?
8 December 2012
Omorovicza. A brand with high quality products full of amazing ingredients. A brand I actually quite adore. I've shared with you before two skincare products from Omorovicza. Their Rejuvenating Night Cream, which is the best night cream I have ever used, and their Deep Cleansing Mask, which leaves my skin looking and feeling amazing. You can read my review of both products here, but today I am going to be sharing with you a perfect gift set to spoil someone with this Christmas. The Blissful Treatment Oils set.
7 December 2012
I've heard a lot over the years about the amazing quality of the Urban Decay 24/7 pencils but it wasn't until I treated myself to the Smoked palette that I ever got to try one. The smoked palette, which I shall be sharing my thoughts on once I had used it more, came with one of the infamous 24/7 liners in Perversion, the perfect black shade. Once I used this I fell absolutely head over heels in love with the creamy formula of the 24/7 pencils, which glided on effortlessly and stayed on all day without a single smudge. I just knew I had to have more, and when I saw the Smoked 24/7 Pencils Set, I just had to have it. After many weeks of debating it and trying to justify the cost, I decided to treat myself!
6 December 2012
Stuck for Christmas ideas? Don't know what to ask Santa to leave under your treat or what gift to give a loved one or friend? Or maybe you're just looking to give yourself a treat this Christmas season? Well do not fret, because Benefit have got Christmas covered! I've got three sets to share with you all over the next week or so and I know you'll love them just as much as me. So get your letters to Santa and pens poised, because these are going to be No.1 on your Christmas wish list!
5 December 2012
Not so long ago I tried my very first Neve products, a beautiful neutrals palette. I adore this palette, called Elegantissimi, really impressed me as my first time trying Neve. You can read my review of the Elegantissimi palette here. Today I am going to be sharing with you a few products from Neve's French Royalty collection, four eye-shadows, two blushes and an eyeliner. from the general Neve range.
It's been a while since the last Skincare Series post, but I am back again and this time I am going to be talking exfoliators! Exfoliating is something I actually really enjoy doing. There was a time I didn't enjoy it and in fact I strayed away from exfoliating, at one point stopping exfoliating altogether. For someone with oily skin, I was incorrectly told that exfoliating would make my oil worse. When in fact the opposite was true! When I stopped exfoliating my skin because so unbareably oily that it made my everyday life a struggle. And that is no exaggeration! The amount of oil I was producing was ridiculous. I started exfoliating again and now it is part of both my morning and night routines, with difficult products for different times. So I am going to share with you my top 5!
4 December 2012
If you hadn't guessed it already, I am a big fan of Liz Earle. Their skincare range is one of my favourites, with products such as the Cleanse & Polish, Instant Skin Boost Tonic and Skin Repair Light Moisturiser now being some of my favourite skincare products, ever! And I also adore their makeup line, with their Signature Foundation being my perfect foundation and one I will repurchase for many years to come. So I was not surprised at all to find that I am also in love with one of their perfumes, either.
The lovely Botanical Essence NO.15 has been my most reached for perfume since it was popped through my door and in the few weeks that I have had it, I honestly haven't reached for any other scent. I am in love with the packaging, having decided to keep the box because it is just too divinely cute; decorated with illustrations of all the ingredients which make up this beautiful scent. The bottle itself is simple, yet stunning in it's own right, and the scent is one which leave my senses more than content. It also happens to be a miracle worker.
2 December 2012
I am a big fan of Urban Decay eye-shadows and I spent weeks and weeks lusting after this beautiful palette containing 20 beautiful shades. I probably bored a lot of you over on Twitter, constantly mentioning how much I wanted it! Well, as you can probably tell, I took the plunge and I bought it! I just couldn't resist. Knowing it was limited edtion, I wanted to get it before it sold out, because the thought of not getting my hands on it was quite frankly, just not an option! The palette itself costs £42 and I bought mine from House of Fraser as they have quite reliable and quick delivery!
If there is one brand who can make me stray away from high-end brands and save a lot of money in the process, it's Palmer's. Palmer's has been a favourite of mine for years and years. Their Cocoa Butter Formula has been a favourite body lotion of mine for as long as I can remember and it's one I will always repurchase. Palmer's is a great high-street brand which can be found in stores such as Boots and Superdrug as well as supermarkets, and it's a super affordable and purse-friendly brand. Today I am going to be sharing with you my top four products from Palmer's!
29 November 2012
I am such a big fan of MUA eye-shadows. I think for a high-street brand whose shadows start at £1, the quality of them is just amazing. Far above and beyond the quality you would expect from such a cheap brand anyway. I won't deny it - When I was first introduced to MUA by my friend, I kind of stuck my nose at them. Now I'm not a high-end makeup snob, most of my makeup is high-street. But I've used cheap brands before and been let down. So when my friend told me about MUA and that their shadows were just £1, at first all I could think was, "Well their going to be dire then aren't they?" But how very wrong I was! Not only is MUA a brand I return to time and time again, but their eye-shadows are some of my favourites - high-street and high-end included.
I don't know about anyone else but a good hair-dryer leaves me giddy. I love hair-dryers. Yes, I know that's odd. And yes, I know heat from any styling tool can damage your hair. But I love hair-dryers! It's in my nature. By trade, I am a fully trained hair stylist. I used to run the hair side of a hair and beauty salon and although I'd never go back to those long, gruelling under-paid days again, there was always something therapeutic about blow-drying someone's hair. And so when this beautifully bright and gorgeous hair-dryer turned up on my door step, I was more than a little bit excited. This is a beauty!!
Everyone is obsessed with recycling these days and the importance of making things last longer. The majority of us are guilty to spending more than we should on our favourite makeup. We are all aware that it’s costly, however it’s a necessity and to some of us, it’s our best friend and something we can’t live without. Do you ever find yourself squeezing your foundation bottle, in hope to cover up a final blemish? Or frantically using your makeup brush in hope of some leftover traces? Well, there are more practical methods out there to help delay your trip to the shops to top up. We’ve made up a list of some smart, and in some ways odd tricks of the trade to help your makeup last longer and in turn, save you some money!
28 November 2012
Inika is a wonderful cruelty free, vegan and vegetarian friendly, mineral cosmetics brand. I have shared their products here on my blog before and their loose eye-shadows and eyeliners are some of my absolute favourites. I actually think their eyeliners are some of the most perfect creamy liners and are in the same league as the Urban Decay 24-7 liners. You can read my review on some more Inika makeup, here. Today I am going to be sharing with you their Precious Metallics Gold Collection from their Christmas range.
27 November 2012
Sometimes you just need something to wake you up and pick you up from a tired dreary day. The Protect body care range from Nourish does just that, with their beautifully scented citrus range.

It features a special blend of phyto-active ingredients with super antioxidant ability, alongside moisture enhancing extracts, designed to protect your skin from pollution, elemental exposure and stress. The Protect range features vitamin-rich extracts from fresh, organic Sicilian lemons, bursting with goodness and vitality and is enhanced with the joyful, sunny scent of orange and mandarin oils.
I like doing favourites posts. Personally, I like sharing the products I've been turning to the most and loving. I also adore reading other people's favourites posts and finding a few new things to add to my ever-growing wishlist. This month I have seven products to share with you that I've been adoring this November. And yes, I am super excited that November is over and we are closer and closer to my favourite time of year, Christmas!
26 November 2012
I was very lucky to win this MAC blush in a giveaway. It's from the Style Seeker collection and is just the perfect shade for me. It's not too dissimilar to my Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso (read review here), with just a touch more pink to it. I've been tempted by MAC blushes before but for me, I don't quite feel I am yet at the stage where I can justify the price of MAC blushes, as I wear bronzers far more often than blush and blush is something I have only become confident with over the past few months. This is the perfect shade to break me in to MAC blushes though. The shade is called Supercontinental and is a beautiful coral peach shade.
25 November 2012
Is this not the coolest, brightest, most fun palette you ever did lay your eyes upon? I am utterly in love with this Balm Jovi Rockstar Palette from theBalm. Out of all of my makeup products, this is the most eye-catching. Just looking at it cheers me up. I have most of my palettes in a drawer, but this one just has to stay out on my dresser because it makes me smile just to see it there in all of it's colourful glory! (Hence all the photos in this post, I just adore the look of this palette!) My very first theBalm product, and one which has definitely got me hooked.
24 November 2012
I have wanted to try Wet N' Wild for absolutely ages. I think it's the same across all beauty bloggers in the UK - We always want American products which seem near on impossible to get in the UK. So imagine how happy I was to see this trio from Wet N' Wild, unopened and unused, in a blog sale! Obviously I jumped at the chance and bought it straight away. And I love it!
22 November 2012
When Bumble and Bumble released this bright and vibrant bottle of oil, named the Hairdressers Invisible Oil, I was super excited. I am a big, big fan of Bumble and Bumble. I wholeheartedly believe they are worth every single penny and I also believe they deserve every last bit of raving and hype they get. Their products are truly some of the most amazing hair products I have ever used; and that includes high-street, high-end and the dozen or more salon professional brands I have been trained in. Bumble and Bumble is my winning hair brand and their Hairdressers Invisible Oil does not let down. In fact, it is the best hair oil I have ever tried and I prefer it to all of my other hair oils. So OK, it's great. But why?
21 November 2012
I don't think there will ever be a time when I don't adore the fresh face masks from Lush. The fifth and most recent one I have tried is The Sacred Truth.
The Sacred Truth is advertised as being for those with slightly more mature skin to fight off the signs of aging. But I have really loved using this mask and seen the positive changes it makes to my skin - And I'm only 24! It contains ginseng and green tea which are great for their antioxidants effects and fresh wheatgrass which is a free radical scavenger. It has rich, softening ingredients such as linseed, eggs, evening primrose oil, shea butter, lanolin, coconut oil and honey which are all great for soothing and moisturising. It has the clays of kaolin and talc which help to clean the skin and fresh papaya which helps dissolve dead skin cells.
19 November 2012
BIG is a Lush product I have heard about over and over again in the blogosphere. It's a popular product, but one which never really appealed to me. Mainly because I have tried shampoos from Lush before, and I'm talking about ten years ago here, and they just really didn't work for my hair. And if you're anything like me you'll know that if you try a product from a brand and don't have a great experience with it, it can kind of put you off of trying the same kind of product from that same brand again. So despite all the hype and rave reviews of this somewhat cult product from Lush, I avoided it and didn't really give it a second thought. That was, until the Nottingham #bbloggers meetup.
I have finally jumped on the Macadamia band-wagon. Do I get an award? I mean, this is a brand which is pretty much the holy grail of holy grail brands for hair oils. Everywhere you look, people rave about them. Everywhere you look, people are lusting after them. And now I am one of those people. Oh yes, prepare yourselves. Because this is going to be a rave review.
18 November 2012
Back in August Selfridges released a limited edition bespoke beauty box to celebrate the launch of their new beauty hall. I managed to get my hands on one of these boxes, which costing only £15, had a total worth of nearly £160. Quite possibly the best value for money I have ever had the pleasure of receiving. You can read my review of this limited edition bespoke beauty box and see everything I got in it, here.
17 November 2012
I'm not sure how relevant this review will be as I know these were raved about over the summer, but I have only recently got my hands on them (I don't know why, I'm just very lazy and stingy sometimes!) but I have been really enjoying using them so I wanted to share my thoughts with you! As that's the point of this blog, right? To share things I like and love!
16 November 2012
There are quite a few high-end candles which are often talked about here on the blogosphere but the candles I hear the most about in the best way, is NEOM. NEOM candles are almost like a cult candle. Everyone who has them raves about them and says they are very much so worth the money (£39.50 for a full sized candle!) and that they are the best candles they have ever had. Those who don't have a NEOM candle lust after them, wanting to add at least one to their candle collection. £39.50 is a bit steep for a candle, and it's also a lot to pay for a candle if you haven't tried it before. How do you know it's really worth it? But NEOM have covered every thing with their travel candle set!
So at the beginning of October I went a bit... crazy. I splurged. Oh did I splurge. And something I probably spent the most on, was MAC.
It's no secret, I often say it here on my blog, but I love MAC lipsticks. For me, they are the best, and my favourite. It's for a lot of reasons really. I love the look of a MAC lipstick. The sleek bullet. The MAC logo. How simple yet beautiful they look. I love the textures and feel of MAC lipsticks. I love the sheer ridiculous amount of shades and finishes available. My favourite finishes are matte, and amplified.
15 November 2012
If you read my review of the Clarins Limited Edition Odyssey Eye Quartet (which you can find here) you will know that Clarins is a brand I really respect. I think their makeup is special and certainly makes me feel as if I am using some of the best there is. These beautiful products are no different. I have been trying out two lipsticks and a mineral eye quartet. And let me just tell you now, I think this eye quartet is actually now my go-to quad for a smokey eye!
14 November 2012
Bronzers, bronzers, bronzers. I can't get enough of them! They are a must in my makeup routine and they are one of my all time favourite types of makeup. I have so many, but I am always adding to my collection because they are a product I use on a daily basis without fail. I never scold myself for buying a new bronzer. Bronzers are to me, the thing which completes any look I go for. They leave me confident, happy in my look and are just blooming lovely. Lovely, utterly lovely. So when I heard MUA were releasing a new bronzer, the Bronzed Perfection bronzer, I was so excited! I had tried a bronzer by MUA before and although I love their eye-shadows, I don't think MUA always hit the nail on the head because their other bronzing products did nothing at all for me and were chucked away after a couple of uses and being deemed useless. But this, this is different. This, is now my most used everyday bronzer!
13 November 2012
If you've been following my blog for a while now you'll know I am a big fan of Antipodes. I love sharing their products with you and today I am going to be sharing with you the Antipodes Joyful Hand & Body Cream. But first, let me tell you a little bit more about Antipodes as a brand and why I love them so much.
12 November 2012
I've spent quite a few months now lusting after the L'Oreal Infallible Eye-shadows, and they featured in my 100 Day Challenge updates and wish-lists quite often. But whenever I swatched them in Boots I always found them lacking in that wow factor that I often see raved and boasted about here on the blogosphere. So every time I have gone to pick a few up, I've stopped myself, telling myself they aren't worth it. But with Boots recent 3 for 2 offer, I suppose I just decided it was time to take the plunge. Products can be very different when on than when you swatch them on the back of your hand so I thought it was worth giving these a proper go. I picked up two, in shades 014 Eternal Black and 001 Time Resist White.
10 November 2012
It's all well and good having hair oils and products which make your hair feel wonderful, but I think it is just as important to use a shampoo and conditioner to get soft, strong hair too! So today I am going to share with you a favourite brand of mine for doing just that. Organix. I have reviewed one Organix product before and that was the Organix Hydrating Macadamia Oil. It's a great high-street alternative to high-end hair oils and you can read my review of it here.
After trying the Inika Mineral Foundation Powder (read review here) I learnt that I actually quite like the idea of powder foundations. They were once a foundation I wouldn't go near as I didn't think they'd ever provide enough coverage. But I was wrong. And I am now happily branching out to more powder foundations. Step in the NATOrigin Loose Powder Foundation.

Eye-shadow primers. They are a pretty big must for anyone who wants long lasting eye-shadow. But there are so many out there that it can be quite hard to decide which one is for you. I have tried two by E.l.f and found them both lacking, but today I am going to sharing my thoughts with you, and comparing, the two primers I currently use. Both are at different ends of the scale; a low end eye-shadow primer from MUA and a high-end eye-shadow primer from Urban Decay.
6 November 2012
A couple of months ago I reviewed a beautifully scented perfume and dry body oil from Di Palomo from their Wild Fig & Grape range. You can read that review here, but basically I fell in love. The scents of this range are incredibly beautiful and made me feel content as they are scents which remind me of Cyprus. Today I am going to be sharing my thoughts with you on their Wild Fig & Grape Indulging Bathing Experience. A gift set containing four products, this would make the perfect Christmas present for a loved one this Christmas! And the best thing is, it's probably one of the cheapest, most reasonably priced gift sets of it's kind I've ever come across!
4 November 2012
Now this is a review I am excited to share with you all. And that is for three reasons. The first being that this review is of two products from a brand I think is absolutely wonderful and deserves every last positive review, and more, that it gets. The second being that we all know I adore bronzers. And the third? Not only have I recently found my perfect mascara in the Burberry Volumising Lash Enhancer Mascara but I think, maybe, I think I have also found my perfect foundation?! Lets start with the bronzer.
Wild About Beauty is a makeup brand which is very new to me. Today I am going to be sharing my thoughts with you on two of their products. One, is a skin and makeup saviour and I featured it in my October Favourites post (you can find that post here!) the other is a product I have never tried the likes of before and I am really beginning to like. First, let me tell you about the Botanical Skin Prep which I have been loving.
3 November 2012
Ever since I got an Etat Pur product in one of my beauty boxes I've been quite intrigued by the brand. Everyone knows it by now - I love skincare. It's very important to me, I want to do whatever I can to look after my skin and I feel that doing something to protect and nourish my skin now will be better than paying the price later in life with bad skin. I've been trying out three products from Etat Pur. Two of them I like, one not so much. So what exactly have I been trying?
